Squeaky Belt
Squeaky Belt
My serpentine belt came off yesterday as I was on my way home yesterday. The old belt was still in one piece, it was just off. As I looked it over I determined to get a new one. I put it on my truck this morning but it is rea loose. I started my truck the belt turns, but is very squeaky (Very Loud). What is a remedy for this?
Get the correct lenght belt so your tensioner will work right, or if that is'nt the
problem I have used a wax candle to run under the belt as it is turning, but a
warning be sure to keep your HANDS out of the way of moving parts when you
do this.

your water pump pulley is probably worn out.
or the tensioner pulley is the culprit.
grab the fan, with engine off, and with no belt on try to move it side to side. if it moves even a little it is bad.
if that is ok then look over the tensioner.

I would guess your tensioner is shot, since your belt came off by its self.
Also check all the pulleys to make sure the belt is running in the center. Also make sure the belt is routed correctly.
