Resistor

Just a question as to where the Ignition resistor on a 73 F-250 would be located at? I would like to know Just in case I ever run into a situation it gives out. And what does this wire look like? It is a 73 f 250 with points ignition.

I think those tend to be under the hood. Follow the wire from your coil with your eyes, and see if there's any evidence of a resistor. It might be bundled and taped though.

If you don't find it that way, you can follow the wire with an multi-meter set to Ohms/resistance. Connect one probe at the coil, and use an insulation-piercing probe to check resistance at various distances from the coil. At some point, the resistor should affect the reading on the meter.

It's actually located in the main wiring harness under the dash.
On the '73 it will be a pink wire with "RESISTOR WIRE-DO NOT CUT OR SPLICE" printed on the insulation. It comes through the firewall with the engine gauge cluster harness, these are the wires that run to the coil, temp and oil pressure sender.
In the second picture to the right side of the box, behind the valve cover, you'll see the plug. This is the engine gauge harness. The thick wire on the left side of the plug (just inside the box line) is where the resistor wire comes through the firewall. From this point on to the coil it's just a regular wire, it's only a resistor wire under the dash.
