I have a 62 ford f100 4x4 that I'm working on cleaning up the wiring under the dash. I found a wire that had burned of the insulation and was still connected. The wire in question is the resistance wire that went from switch to the coil, going through the bulkhead connector. The cloth wire protector was most likely the only thing that kept it going to ground and causing further damage to the truck. What shocks me was it was running, with out the insulation.
So where do I find a replacement for the wire, or can I buy a 1.3-1.4 ohm resister and solder it into the 20 gauge wire and call that good? I have alread pulled the wire from the bulkhead rubber connector so should be able to wire it in like original.
Never mind I ran NumberDummies Motorcraft Dy-37 on the Napa parts interchange and they will have it to me tomorrow morning. Napa part number ICR22 Coil Resistor Ohms : 1.35 Ohms Ignition Coil Resistor Color Code : Pink
