Eliminate RKE Module?

Working on my own 2003 E250 with 5.4 gas motor-----want to completely eliminate the factory Remote Keyless Entry module, the end effect being as though it were never installed. I don't need its features and I believe my module is beginning to fail.

Primarily I need the PDL's to work as on any van without the RKE. There is an aftermarket alarm and electric deadbolt system too, the alarm being able to unlock the doors via its remote.

Ideally I would cut the factory wiring near the modules connectors (Cell 111 2003 EVTM, connectors C3140a & C3140b) and splice the necessary circuits together to undo this installation. I could eventually hunt-and-peck my way through this but if anyone has already actually done this that info would be very, very helpful.

I'm fairly well experienced with most manner of wiring repair so quality connections aren't an issue; tools also not a problem. I have every EVTM from 1997 to 2013.

Looking forward to any experience with this project---don't want to buy another RKE.

TIA

How does this module fit into the network of the van? Does it have the two wire network wires going to it? Does the van's network put this module to work to do other duties besides an alarm system? If so, would eliminating it from the network make the network unhappy without some programming?

No this module isn't network enabled at all. I don't believe any of the E-Series had any level of networking like F-Series and other Ford vehicles might have installed from the factory. Basically its just a radio frequency controlled switch of sorts. It does have three different functions activated by the factory fob/remote which include lock all doors, unlock left door only and a panic alarm that just sounds the vehicle horn. All those functions are within the RKE itself.

This is just a simple on/off device actuated via the fob---typical to the E-Series (lack of) sophistication circa 2003.

You do have a network in your van, it shows it in the diagrams. But it's not extensive, and I think you are right, the RKE is not involved.

I was looking at this diagram, I think you could eliminate it, but you would have to replace the module with a bank of relays to keep the door locks working.

Any ability to revive this thread? I cannot seem to get my power locks to work. So I bought an aftermarket keyless entry module and would love to get my power locks working. I have no power to the bk/wh wire going to the switch. But do have power on the fuses?

What year, model, trim level, etc. are you working on?

It’s a 2005 e350 but the wiring seems to be a mix between 2003 and 2005. It was a tour van. Fuse box is 2003.
power locks have bk/wh which is supposed to be always hot but it’s not. Just replacing my rear switch which is 5 wire. It has rke module but unsure if it works

Here are the diagrams for a 2005 E350. Looks like everything is controlled by the vehicle security module. Looks like your lock switches are just small signal switches that signal the VSM. The VSM takes that signal and actuates the lock motors. The locks are little motors, and the VSM sends a voltage signal of one polarity or the other to make the lock motor move to lock or to unlock. Here are the diagrams for the 2005.

I glanced at the 2003 diagrams. It has a Remote Keyless Entry module or RKE module, not a Vehicle Security module like in 2005. But even though they are called different names, their function as far as the locks looks to be the same.
