I have a 95 powerstoke and my keyless entry remote got stolen out of my jeep. Unfortunately the thief knows where i live. My question is: Is there a way to deprogram that remote so that it will not unlock and disable the alarm on the truck. I dont need a new one, just the old one not to work. The dealerships near me really dont have a clue on the older models. like i said im fine with using my key to unlock the truck as i usually do that anyway, just dont want those low lifes getting anymore of my stuff
If you have factory key less entry, then there will be several systems that interact with the module. Unplugging the module might work, but I suspect it would also cause other equipment to not work as their circuits pass through the module. You would have to get a hold of a wiring diagram or harness pin out for the module connectors and address any needed circuits broken by disabling the module. I am pretty confident you would lose the function of the door lock switches, maybe some courtesy lighting, and it could maybe cause a no start condition.
As far as reprogramming the module on the truck... I don't know if that is possible. I would think they programed the remotes to match the module not the other way around. I honestly don't know though. Maybe replace the module and get a new remote?? Or bypass it, as suggested.
It may cause other issues but can't you just pull the fuse for the door locks? What else is covered with that fuse? Certainly could be done on a short term basis while you figure out a more long term solution.
