E4OD Hard 1-2-3 shifts, Wont downshift into 1st.
I have a 1993 Ford Bronco XLT With a 5.8 351 Windsor, And an E4OD of course. It always had a problem where if you were to take off in overdrive the transmission would shift hard from 1st 2nd to 3rd, 4th was fine. But then it would only downshift into 2nd, not 1st. With overdrive off, It does not have this issue but creates these god awful back destroying shifts. The transmission was rebuilt at 147,583 miles and after 6 years it now has 147,673 miles. Obviously, it was not driven much. Now there is a leak coming from the front of the transmission. I should also note the truck has an erratic idle from 1200 RPM to 1000 RPM, it will rev hang at 2200 RPM if you give it a quick punch. Any help, please?

That trans is 100% computer controlled and the trans is doing EXACTLY what the computer is programmed to make it do when it detects a problem with one of more sensors in the powertrain. Not incidentally.. a TPS sensor issue will trigger this "safe mode" behavior from the PCM so I wouldn't be surprised if the engines idle troubles are related to if not the cause of your trans behavior.

Well,
I have 313 and 411, Absolut no idea what this is trying to say other than," Your trucks ****ed up but I can't tell you why". Oh, and what I mean by taking off in overdrive is putting the shifter in D with overdrive on. Hope that helps a little
