2000 F-250 with 7.3 PSD. Brake light came on dash and dings while cruising at 55 down a paved road. The brakes work fine. There is the normal amount t of fluid in tank. What could cause this?
Momentarily illuminates when the ignition is turned to the ON position. Also illuminates if the parking brake is engaged. Illumination after parking brake is released indicates low brake fluid level and the brake system should be inspected immediately.
Sounds strangely like the owners manual. There is all the fluid in the reservoir and it dings constantly. The manual says nothing about that. Could a wire somewhere be causing an issue.
Sometimes the E-Brake gets loose, pull on the release lever and at the same time pull on the E-Brake in an upward motion towards the Dash then let go of the release handle, see if light goes off. If the E-Brake isn't used on a normal basis, I wouldn't press it down to apply it, it may hang up or your cable could snap. My 95 F250 the pedal was loose and used to fall about 1/2 inch and bring the light on. My 03 F350 had bailing wire wrapped around it to hold it up when I bought the truck, I guess the PO figured that was the way to fix it...LOL
