I got my parts from riff raff today and got the truck buttoned up. Cranked for 30 seconds twice with the VCH disconnected, then plugged it in, now I'm charging my batteries again. I'll try it again soon, hopefully it fires!
I'd leave the charger on it while you crank it. I would think plugging it in could help you with the first start too. Good luck!
I cranked it some more. Still no start yet. Batteries back on the charger. It's just a 1.5 amp charger so I don't want to plug it in while cranking. May end up needing new batteries.
I meant plugging engine heater in too not just the battery charger.
ahh gotcha. I only have 1 cord long enough to reach the truck. I have an on-board battery charger (noco genius 1.5 amp) that I mounted behind the grill and I cut a plug into the bumper on the side. I think I'm going to have to replace the batteries tomorrow. I'll let it charge overnight, and try to start again in the morning while I'm waiting for my boy to get on the bus before I go to work.
The truck starts, and it runs great, but it seems like a REALLY long crank to start it is this just air in the system that'll work out?I've only driven it about 10 miles and it's idled for about an hour now

I would definitely say air in the system. It takes about 100 miles or so to really get right.
Easy enough! My carpet came in today, so I'm installing that, then I have to fix the thermostat gasket that is leaking from when I removed it to do the coolant flush. Then I'm going to drive it like I stole it
How Long does it normally take to get all of the diesel out of the cooling system? I flushed it until the water ran clear, and I checked it today and I had about an 1/8th of an inch of diesel on top of the coolant in the degas bottle. I sucked it off the top with a vacuum pump, and I'll keep checking it. I hope this doesn't me that my repair didn't take...
thats one of the few reason I don't go to local oil change facility. they tend to really spin the filter on and over time with the heating and cooling cycles they get tighter and tighter.
It clearly states to turn 1/4 way when you contact the housing.. I turn it till it stops with a lightish pressure, loosen and then retighten to 1/4 turn.. I do put some new oil on the gasket as well.
after some 50-100 or so miles slide under and check to make sure no leaks.
PS: how long it take to the cup replacement exercise?
