I have what appears to be an early after market turn signal selector. It has a red pull **** for emergency flashers. Problem is my turn signals don't work. I found 3 fuses under the e brake handle under dash and changed. Still not working. I'm just getting into this problem but man it's a pain. All other lights work fine. Are there any other fuses anywhere?
Is the aftermarket switch one of those gizmos that clamps to the column? If so, it is likely plugged or spliced somehow into the wiring at the base of your column. The first thing I would do is locate the wire that comes from the fuse box to the turn signal flasher (which is probably under the dash to the right of the steering column). It's likely an orange and red wire. Disconnect it from the flasher. If you have a 12 volt test light (and if you don't I suggest you get one, they're cheap and a great little tool for these jobs) connect one end of it to the wire you unplugged from the flasher and ground the other end. If it doesn't light you know the problem is "upstream" (power not getting to or out of the fuse box). If it lights then you know you have power going to the flasher. If it lights then plug the supply wire back into the flasher and unplug the other flasher wire (the one that goes from the flasher to the steering column). It's likely blue. Now do the same test with the test light. Connect one end to the male lead on the flasher and ground the other end. The test light should light and blink. If it doesn't, the breakdown is in the flasher. If it does, the problem is somewhere between the flasher and the turn signal lights. Try those couple of things and update us. Hope this helps. Remember the key has to be on for the turn signals to work, so keep it on through these tests.
