Caster Sleeve: Causing upper ball joint bind

Hi, new to the forum. Checked tech folders but could not find info. Is there a special procedure in installing caster sleeves? I tried changing to new sleeves but when I tried to install them, they were tight. I bought exact same ones from Oreillys. I tried hammering them in but no luck. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

When I did mine I reused the oem ones.

I used a wire brush and sand paper on both the sleeve and mating surfaces until they would go in correctly.

I lubed the outside of sleeve with antiseize too. NOT the ball joint hole though.

I suspect the mating hole needs preped. It needs to be seated correctly before the ball joint is put in and tightened down.

Clean clean and clean. The bore in the yoke will need to completely clean and and free of corrosion.

Emery cloth is helpful.

are you installing them in the same position as the original?

the hole is off center in the bushing.

use a paper flapper wheel and clean bushing hole out.

apply a light coat of grease on bushing.

you may have to open the split in the bushing hole. it collapses bit when pinch bolt is torqued.
