Leaking carburator

Not much experience with carburetors.
Truck is very hard to start after it sits for a few days. No fuel
visible in the fuel filter. After spraying starting fluid
it eventually starts but is see fuel drip off a small
hole under the piece the photo below. Do I only need to change
a gasket or is it more complex?

Thank you

Behind the cover is a coil spring, then the accelerator pump, then the accelerator pump check valve.

These parts can be bought by themselves or come in the carb kit.

The accelerator pump hardens/stiffens, causing the truck to bog down/hesitate/stumble from a dead stop or when accelerating at speed.

This looks like a later 2150 series carb (introduced in 1975), because the 1962/74 original 2100 series carb did not have a screw in fuel filter.

The original filter is a corrugated paper cartridge, fits into a canister that threads onto the fuel pump.

Is there a tag on the carb with an ID number on it? Tag is triangular shaped, attaches to the airhorn w/a screw.

It is a 2150 not cause of the fuel filter ford does make a fuel filter that will screw in place of the fuel line.

But the accel pump screws are hex head and not Flat or standards screw heads.

As Bill said the accel pump diaphragm is shot.

Fix it fast before it gets bad. On a truck I got it was squirting out. A good way to start a fire.

You do not need to buy the whole carb kit just the pump diaphragm

Available from below.
Check to make sure this is the right one one there are few different ones for the 2150

Only ID number I could find is Motorcraft 25
and it seems like the 2150 is what closest resembles mine
and I want to buy a rebuild kit but want to make sure.

Pull the accelerator pump diaphragm out and match it to a replacement.
From the links provided.

If the engine is running fine other than the leak for the accelerator pump there is no need to rebuild the carb. Plus the carb looks like it does not have many hours on it since the last rebuild. It could have been rebuilt with an older kit that did not have an ethanol compatible accelerator pump diaphragm. No need to make this more complicated than it is. This is a simple repair that will take 15 mins at most.

And your carb is a 2150.

It started to leak after i had removed it to change the oil well gaskets
but when putting it back there is a big spring that attaches to the
a bolt on the intake manifold to the carb. I not to sure where it goes
so i put on the accelator linkage on the carb. This in turns puts pressure on the
pump.

Pictures would help in this case to see if it is installed in the spot.
Either way the Accel pump should not leak.
