if its clear chance are its a brake line got damaged from the shock and began leaking if you open the brake fluid bottle on the fire wall an smell but if it isnt but it has a realy horrid smell then might be gear oil from your axel but i dont see it being gear oil since its near your lines up on the frame try having someone in the truck and have it runnign an get them to press the peddle an listen for any hissing sounds

Looks like its brakes. On a positive note, I did get some good priced stock rims and thanks to this site, I grabbed the lug nuts to go with. Now the age old question, what tires do I get. I thought I had the Michelin Defenders LTX M/S picked out but then I heard that they aren't lasting as long as the older ones. So now I'm not sure. I know lots of people like the BF KO2s, but I really don't do much off-road so I don't know how those do with mostly highway. I do drive on country sand roads a lot, but they are in good shape. Mostly highway miles. Towing some and hoping to get a 30' travel trailer soon to use a couple times a year as well. Desires in order: Ride, longevity, noise, looks

with a travel trailer having a somewhat aggresive tire helps if you happen to park on grass or muddy areas after a rain storm to help haul the wheight of the trailer. personaly i got the BF KO2 on mine and its a smooth ride no hum when at speeds that i noticed and they are an overly offroading looking tire

Thanks metru. I went ahead and ordered the KO2s. Seems to be the preferred choice of Excursion drivers everywhere. When I was cleaning up a bit tonight I noticed this line was filthy. Is that normal? Also, I noticed my blow out did more damage than I thought. Got a crack all the way up next to the tail light. Bummer
