That box next to the E-brake is your PCM. Also known as an ECM, engine computer, etc. Don't EVER mess with it while the key is in the ignition. You will incur a $1000 problem real quick.

Yes, the GEM is piggy-backed on the Central Junction Box (CJB) right above the PCM and E-brake.

Fixed

Well, I needed new actuators after all.

I installed 4 new ones this evening and they all work.

Such is life.

That is the PCM

Any suggestion on further examining the Maxi fuse?

Note that I wrote "Maxi fuse," which is the terminology used in my owner's manual. You wrote "relay." You also said "next to the underhood fuse box," and I was looking in the underhood fuse box. But, again, I was going by my owner's manual — I even searched the pdf for "lock." I want to be sure I am not missing something? Is there a relay I am missing?

I agree that it does not seem to be the actuators. After I looked for the "relay," following the instructions in the tech folder about fixing actuators, I took apart one actuator, and it looked pristine. I hit it with some contact cleaner, too, just for fun. When I put it back together, no change. I am assuming such is the case with the rest of them. This is to say, I don't think the problem is with the actuators.

If in fact this is the case, I wouldn't know where to begin troubleshooting; but I guess I would begin at the door switches and trace wires. In any case, when I went looking for my GEM (which Nicmike mentioned, and which I did not find because I didn't understand that it is on the back of my fuse panel [right???], AND I got sidetracked by what I did find), I found this "box" (pictured) to the side of the e-brake, unsecured. (I partially slid off the housing.) Any idea what this box is? Do you think it could be related to my lock issue? I tried to ensure that it was firmly seated.... No change in the locks.

One last tidbit of information: I recently tried to have the computer programmed for a spare key (at two dealers), and it was rejected (many times). One tech said he thinks there may be a wiring issue in the dash. Does this influence your trouble shooting?

Again, thanks.
