73 rear bumper brackets

i have a 73 f100 ranger xlt and it had the big step bumper and i am going to put to much nicer looking contour bumper on it. the issue i am having is finding bumper brackets. no one makes them that i can find and no junk yard around here has any that will work without a bunch of fabricating.
Does any one have any ??or know where to find any?

thanks,
Carl

Good luck! There are no reproductions made etc....! The last set I seen for sale had rust holes in them and sold for around a $150. To me your only option is to fabricate a set yourself. Or get lucky and find a set or a bumper with a set on.

I got lucky last year! I bought an original bumper with the brackets for $225. The bumper came off a truck with 48k original miles. The owner wanted a step bumper instead. I didn't argue with him on the price. No dents in it and the original chrome is excellent as well!

There are a few places that sell reproductions for about $120 and up.

I've been researching this for a while. There are some threads in this forum with some helpful info. Everything I have seen is that the repop brackets fit poorly, and I'm just going to make my own.

I'd like to see that link to some repos...there are not any as far as I know.

You can mode a set off a 78/79 Bronco. HIO Silver made/modded his set I do believe.

I do believe this FTE member is reproducing them? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/member.php?u=716292

Dean is a nice guy, he stopped by a while back and bought the last set I had on the shelf.

Yup.. that was me. 'Had to extend them with 3/16 plate about three inches and re-drill the mounting holes. I spaced the bumper from the bed corner about 3/4-inch.

Dennis Carpenter has some that are specified for a 62-73. The part number is C4TZ-17787. I'm still not sure if they are supposed to work for dents or if they can be made to work.

Number Dummy has posted info before for the contour bumpers, with the "C4TZ" bumpers being for frame rails with 33 1/2" spacing, and the "D4TZ" for 37 1/2" rail spacing. Not sure if those part numbers are supposed to be related to the bracket numbers.

It's all pretty confusing.

Slicks n Bumps have narrower rear frame rails. The brackets' "wings" would have to be shortened to line up with a Dent-spec contoured bumper.

I am not referring to highboys.

1961/66 F100/350 with 1957/60 "wrong beds" use different brackets and bumpers.

The part number is C4TZ-17787 Will not work for dents.

No such thing as D4TZ .. 33 1/2" vs. 37 1/2" makes no difference for 1973/79 F100/350 contour brackets. The bumpers are specific, the brackets are not.
C4TZ-17787-A Right Inner; C4TZ-17788-A Left Inner; C4TZ-17795-A Right Outer; C4TZ-17796-A Left Outer .. Contour Rear Bumper Brackets / Reproduced

1964/66 F100/250 2WD; 1966 F100 4WD; 1967/72 F100/350.

See post #5 for 1973/79.
