I have seen many posts online about this issue and seems as if everyone fix theirs but i seem to not be able to get mines fix. Maybe I'm missing something.
I have a 2002 f350 7.3. I get the no throttle response. Ive changed the pedal with a Napa one and it didnt work. I return it and order one from Ford. It didnt work. I inspected for chafe wires and found none. I removed the ecm/pcm box out and put back in. I change the cps sensor. Still it does the same. Now what i can say is that while in idle, i turn the steering wheel left to right and the check engine light will come on and then i notice no gas response and that when its in neutral. I notice more when i turn to the left it triggers the ses light. I turn steering wheel to the right it seems to be good. So i removed the column off the steering wheel and inspected for chafed wires in there and found nothing. What could be going on here guys…..Please help…..2weeks without my truck is killing me. I went to advance auto and the code reader read no codes on a few things but also said "ecm no response". I know some of the cheaper ones can not communicate with the ecm. It was the alton(something like that) manufactured reader. Please help before i have to take in to the stealership. I do not have access to another more advanced code reader
I am confused. How did u take to advance auto w/o throttle?
Did you happen to check fuse 45? IF the the OD cancel switch in the shift handle has a chafed spot, it will blow that fuse. That also provide power to the accelerator pedal.
I live literally down the street from advance auto. I use the ts chip hi idle mode to coast me there.
Yes, i check 45 fuse and it was all good. I check the od cancel switch wiring and saw no visible chafe wires. for the last past 2 years the OD light never came on but it worked. No fuses are blown.
I had a friend to come over today and his scanner could not communicate with the pcm.
He will be the snapon scanner tomorrow to see if it reads.
I can't see my PCM being out if it starts and everything else works fine.
also while pressing the accelerator, it may throttle for about 1 secs then stop responding again as long as I'm in drive. but when I'm in neutral it will do a lot better until i turn the wheel to the left.
Have u tried to look at it with chip uninstalled? Also, if you persist with scanners not communicating, do both cigarette/power points work? One of them is one the same circuit as the diagnostic port i think and a blown fuse will make it not work
yes I unhooked the the chip it's hanging out of the pcm but I did notice it was very loose but still operating normal but I removed it. I haven't checked the cig lighter. Let me go do that now
Problem fix. There was an wire/harness in the area of the left shock tower which was shorted out. Ford replace the wire and harness. Not sure where that harness/wire went to but it affected the gas pedal assembly
