Maybe wait 'til 2020 for a new Bronco? Or Ranger?

Not much real metal on these new trucks to rust

"1969" has a 1970 or 1971/72 grille shell, the grille inserts are the aftermarket billet type.

Hood may not be original, as the hood side emblems without yellow reflectors were used in 1967 only. Wrong outside mirrors, appear to be gypo's. This type of mirror was introduced in 1973.

Instrument cluster is from a F500/750. Steering wheel is aftermarket, front seats are not original, neither are the wheels, 460 engine isn't original either, wasn't available until 1973.

The bed may not be original to this truck. Notice that the auxiliary fuel tanks fuel cap is located below the scallop (bumpside) line, just in front of the left rear wheel.

This is correct for 1970/72 only. 1967/69's had the auxiliary fuel cap located above the scallop line, in front of the left rear wheel.

Power windows/power seat not available for F150/350 until 1981.

FTE member brady couchman has a mostly original 1970 F350 Crew Cab, has attended several GTG's with it.

btw: This old rolling pile of miseries is located in Simi (aka Dust Bowl) Valley, as I am. I could go look at it, if someone is really interested in it.

btw part II: The brake pedal is one of the few things that's correct. The wide brake pedal was introduced in 1973, its pedal pad: D3TZ-2457-A

Thanks, Bill, for the word on the brake pedal. I erroneously remembered my '70 as being wide. Maybe I remembered my '89 instead.

I think what Bill is trying to say is that before anyone bought this one he would do well to get as much information on this VIN as possible.

Possible salvage title??

Appreciate all the shared wisdom Pop and Dummy.

Brady and Cam purkrockpilot both have nice ones that got me interested.

Probably ought to save $ for the IL money pit: see 1895 example.

Agree Rick, it's a bit out of my budget too, but I like the idea of a mother in law section and tractor size out buildings.

Wifey must have plans for her mother to move in at some point? I will admit that having a large outbuilding as such would be very handy.

Just because the dark green truck is not a numbers matching example of a "rare" crew cab doesn't mean it is a pile of junk. I am sure the owner did not have concourse shows in mind when he made some substitutions for the parts he needed. If I were in the market for a truck like that, I would buy it in a heartbeat. The issues he mentioned would not be a deal breaker for me. Just my .02

No such thing as numbers matching inre to FoMoCo, numbers matching is a GM thing.

The seller of this truck is IMO, not being honest inre to all the mods he made. Says it's a 1969, but what it really is...is a Frankenstein Monster with parts swapped from gawd only knows what.

You'd pay 23 grand for this pile, considering it still needs work and you don't know the quality of the work performed?

That is interesting to learn that FoMoCo did not number match.I was under the impression that all car makers did that. After re-reading the CL ad, I must agree with you that the poster is not honest. He could have mentioned that not all parts were from a '69. However, that in itself would not stop me from buying it.

Sean, small piano hinge, scrape to bare metal and add JB Weld, then paint.

Thx Stewart, I thought about a hinge, but (not sure if you can see in the photos; the door pulls down and out and then slides back in to a detent so the door rests nearly perpendicular to the box for breaker fiddling) the door sits under the top cover about 1/2 inch to keep water out. I stopped by 3 local electric supply houses and they collectively laughed at me. On old timer said, "hell just cobble it with some stainless wire call it good, cheaper than a new box".

I'll give that one a try.
