I have a 1987 F-150 step side with a wood bed. I know that this is the last year Ford made the step side and the first year they mass produced the fuel injection. It has a 5.0 in it with emblems front and back. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about this being a rare truck... I have not seen any like it. And when I run the VIN it doesn't really show a step side for that year. Any thoughts or ideas on how to get more info on my truck.

Welcome to FTE
Ford = Flareside, a step side is a Chevrolet.
Rare does not equate to value.
The VIN does not decode to the type of pickup bed a truck has. All your 17 digit VIN will decode to (5th/6th/7th digits) is F150 2WD or 4WD Pickup.
If you get a Marti Report (martiauto.com ~ copy of the trucks original build sheet), it will tell you how many were made, how many came with specific equipment and etc.
Marti charges a fee for his reports that escalates, depending on how much info you want.
