In case anyone was wondering, Dan's VIN is as follows:
F11JK240738 I only know what LMC truck magazine has told me. Any other descriptions?
F100
4 Wheel Drive
Stepside 8 Foot Bed
223 cid
4 Speed
Caribbean Turquoise Exterior
Kansas City, MO Plant (I think)
F11JK240738
F11 = F100 4WD
J = 223 I-6 1V
K = Kansas City Missouri Assembly Plant
240738 = 1962 / Assembled December 1961.
lmc told you your truck is a Stepside?
A stepside is a......Chevrolet.
Flareside = Ford: The bed is narrow and has a wood floor. The bed sides are flared out at the top and the fenders are on the outside of the bed.
Styleside = Ford: The bed is smooth sided and has a steel floor.
Look on the inside of the glovebox door for the Warranty Plate (1961/62).
List all the data you find. It can ALL be decoded here on FTE.
Several FTE members can decode everything you list from the Warranty Plate...and we go by Ford Truck Parts Catalogs for the correct information, not some aftermarket VIN decoder found in a magazine.

Actually LMC did not list the stepside. I had never heard the term flareside. It's now obvious though about the flared bed, however I called it stepside because of the step near the cab. I assume these were once used for gas cans? Thanks for the correction....oops....sorry to all the Ford owners out there. I guess that was quite a big goof. Can I be forgiven?
