Hello All new to the forum. Wanted to post a FYI for those with 2011 F250 with 6.7 Liter Diesel or those with the 800ft lb torque version of the 6.7 in the year range where it is a mostly the same engine. At approx 53K miles My still under warranty 2011 tossed a P0269 Cylinder 3 Contribution code. I read the forums and it looked like a fuel injector issue from google searches. This occurred on a 600 mile trip I was on with the Family. On the way back it developed a whine as well and I assumed it was fuel pump going out. Took it into dealer and the whine I was hearing on the return leg of my trip was a turbo assembly gone bad. Dealer replaced the turbo Pack and then did the following to isolate the P0269:
Per TSB flashed computer to clear code
Code returned
Checked Injector etc as one would expect in troubleshooting a fuel issue
No fault in fuel system found
Checked compression on Cylinder 3 and deviation greater than 20% was noted
Removed Head
Problem found to be the Valves in Cylinder 3
Ford did not specify which valve was bad
Resolution was Replace Head
Order separate head gasket as apparently the heads normally come with a gasket set
Order Lifting Eye as the techs needed special lifting eye for this procedure
Replace head and Valve train how much is unknown I assume lifters remained in for cam wear and tear prevention?
Replace head gasket
silicon sealant was ordered and used at some point
changed coolant
changed oil
changed filter
Compression issue and cylinder 3 contribution issue resolved
reset/Erase DTC codes
return to customer/me
within 48 hours when the EGR subsystem finally got to the point where it was supposed to clear the system as functional it tossed a new code
P0401 EGR related code I have checked with my computer already. Looks like that DTC is very common among low mileage lets say 50K - 60K 6.7 diesels as well.
