Selling Guns?

I was thinking of selling some guns through the classifieds for a little extra cash had a few questions for those of you that have done it before. Do I need to run any type of background checks on the buyers? What if this guy is a psychopath and uses the gun to rob a bank and shoot the teller, am I responsible?

i know in the classifieds around here its required that both the seller and buyer exchange FOID numbers but i dont know if i varies from state to state. i wouldnt think if someone you sold a gun to murdered someone with it that you would be held responsible because you posted the ad in a public paper and you dont know the buyers intentions anyway. thats just what i think though..

Advertising guns or jewlery for sale in the classifieds by a regular citizen can, in many places, be a dangerous experience. There are bad guys out there looking for those ads.

Find a dealer and sell thru him. It is worth a % in order to do things right.

At the very least, there is paperwork to transfer ownership out of your name if these guns are registered. You never know what might happen to them 10 years after you sell them.
