Replacement Glovebox

I bought a replacement glovebox from Classic Haulers several years ago, and just now I'm thinking about putting it in. It seems way too big to fit the space. Any tips? I'm thinking it has to be collapsed in some way. Thanks.

You have to put it in before you install the heater. Don't ask me how I found this out

Also if you put a different heater in than what was in the truck originally and use the existing heater hose holes in the firewall, make sure it actually fits with the glovebox. I made that mistake and now my glove box angles upwards as it goes to the firewall.

BTDT!
It's also not obvious which side is Up.

So, what side is up? I have the box jammed in now with the seam side (staples) down. That doesn't' seem right. The bottom fits, but not the top and sides. Originally the box seemed too big for the space. Now there is not enough cardboard "box material" to fasten the sides and top in place.

I installed it with the seam side down. the two notches slide between the dash and the hinge and clamp it in place. I still haven't been able to install one screw but it seems to work ok.

Rich, wouldn't your installation be seam side (staples) up. The notches are on the opposing side. I was going to try the notches on the bottom next. It makes sense that the notches would go with the hinge bolts. Thanks.

Your right, that's what I get for trying to quickly answer at 4am! The sides had to be bowed out to attach which brought down the top but still couldn't line up one hole.

I just put one in my 51 F3. The box seemed too small once I got it in. Once I started lining up the holes it all came together and fit just right. It was a bit of a dirty dog getting it in without damaging it.

Thanks everyone. I didn't get a chance to work on the glovebox today, but at least I know what side is up. I should be good.

I put one in my 50 and it seemed like there was NO way it was going to fit but like the others said, once i squeezed it in things started lining up however i had 2 screw holes that had no holes in the carboards(not even anywhere) so i just "made them".

I don't know if this would help but I found out, to my detriment, that there are two sizes of glove box. I initially had shallower, wider version and had no chance of fitting it. The correct sized glovebox was still difficult to fit but it may be worth checking the measurements
