AC/Heater Box swap to heater box only???

I removed all the A/C parts on my 79 bronco (Should apply to F series also) , now I want to remove the big black box hanging on the firewall and replace it with a heater only box. Is this just a simple swap out, go to junk yard and get a heater box or will I have to manufacture a plate to put over the larger hole? Will the fan and duct work be compatible with heater only box? Thanks. Ed.

You will need to seal up the big hole in the fire wall. I don't know if the ducts will work, the controls will also be different. I changed the cab on my 76 F250 4x4 and went from A/C to just a heater, but I changed the cab and put in a new dash, controls and heater box. I also installed the vents in the kick panels.

If your big black box will fit an 1977 F-100 I might be interested in it to replace mine.

"E" mail me if interested.

Once you get the heater box its plugs right in when you unplug the a/c harness. you also need the get the non a/c heater control panel and cables. The easiest way is to cut out the piece of firewall from another truck and weld or screw it in place and use some body seam sealer. I did it in my old truck.

after

heres a better pic

That looks like good work on that fire wall. I changed out the cab on my because there was little of the fire wall left.

So once I install the new firewall, I have to get new controls and duct? Why can't the present controls work only when I push to A/C nothing happens? I knew I should have left it alone once I got it off. I swear at that box every time I replaced my headers or back spark plug....I am going to do it anyway. Headed to the scrap yard to get a firewall. Anyone interested in a good A/C radiator let me know. Ed.
