Ididit Steering Column

Received my 30" steering column with column shift today for my 50 f1. Preliminary test fit with Toyota box and u-joint looks like it will be to short. Shift lever will hit dash unless it has about a 5 1/2" drop, and that will be to low. Will have more time tomorrow to check it out. What length are you using? From what I checked out, 30" was what people were using.

Can you bend the shift lever?

I get it mocked up tomorrow and see if I need to go with a longer column. Need to put seat back in.

If I remember correctly, I used a 32 inch column in my 49.

After checking it out more today I would need a 32" column to make it work. Ididit does not list a 32" in the universal column shift, they have a 33". I will return this to Summit and get a 30" floor shift column and a Lokar AOD Shifter. Thank you for all that replied.

Hey Pokee,
It's good to see another '50 getting saved. Post some pics as you make progress.
We used a 30 inch Ididit with our '50 but our drivetrain set up is different than your's....
351W/AOD with a Mustang II IFS.

Good luck over there in Washington!

Hi Ben,
May I ask which AOD did you use with your 351W?
Which donor vehicle did you get it from and what year?
I'm riding on a 1978 351W & a C6 but would love LOVE an AOD!

Hey Paul,
We got a no name AOD then had the insides rebuilt/upgraded
with parts from Baumann Engineering. You want to get one with the "A"
size servo - they came on the V8 donor cars/trucks. We have a fairly robust
engine so we had to have a bit more heavy duty internals.
