Those chineesy projectors are probably the worst light. The ones I've seen would never focus hi/low beams at the same time either. Lows aimed good and hi's were pointed at the ditch. I would get the '02-04 eagle eyes and get your $$$ back on the projectors.
Jason, I'm a bit confused. I want to go the 02-04 lens route. However the link for the relay harness you had and some others I looked up have the 3 prong plug for the h4 light. However I don't see how that mounts in the 02-04 lens. My light now has the sealed ring and circular piece to hold it in place. How does the h4 bulb mount in there? Also those kits don't seem to have the right plug to plug into the existing light switch plug. Am I missing something?

Poor (new) headlights-options?

Unfortunately I've had these lights to long to return them (I'm sure). I threw the factory lenses away (they were yellowed anyway). I guess I need to think about a whole new setup. I won't have a chance to do that for a month or two. Are there supplemental (fog or driving lights) that I can use along with my headlights (and that don't bother oncoming drivers) in the mean time? LED's are too bright I discovered.

Just call Susquehanna Motorsports. I probably linked the wrong product. Their harness plugs into one of your stock 9007 headlight plugs and goes to a pair of HELLA sealed relays, then out to your headlights. It uses the best products available - application appropriate wire, ceramic connectors, relays, etc. I put over 100k miles on each of the harnesses I had in my X and my dually - then sold them to people still using them today.

I will put the relays near drivers battery on fenderwell and take 12v from big wire that feeds under hood fuse box on '99-01 trucks and from big wire under air filter box (goes from batts to under dash fuse box) on '02-04 trucks.

The cheap LED's have very poor cut off, meaning that the light goes everywhere! The higher end LED's have excellent cut offs, like you see in Audi's etc, the light is directed onto the road, not on coming drivers eyes. That's why I went with the Trucklites in my F350, they've performed exceptionally well in my Jeep too.

I installed relays/harnesses as Jason has suggested, but from a different source. They enabled the headlights to stay strong, even when idling and on weak-ish batteries. The light output appeared to be improved as well, but I also swapped in newer bulbs at the same time.

The biggest improvement the relays allow is being able to use 100/80 watt bulbs.

www.rallylights.com

Just call them.

9007-9007 headlight relay harness. Well worth the $$. I can easily build this, but to buy the same quality parts one at time - it’s not worth it to me.

Based off of the research I did to locate the best lighting options available for our trucks, this is what I came up with. I'm sure there are other companies out there that make very well built kit's, but this is what I came up with. Here's a company that I've used for the past 10 yrs and they've taken lighting technology to another level. The Retrofit Source has accouple of options for our turcks to obtain lighting comparable to what we see on Mercedes & BMW's. I've used several of their kit's and they are very well built. These are also not the cheap Chinese garbage LED's & HID's that you see on ebay and other site's. These are high quality kits. They're not for everyone, because as I mentioned they are expensive kit's. NO, the LED's when installed in our stock head light buckets will NOT throw scattered light all over the road and blind oncoming traffic like you see so many trucks and ricer's running on the road. Anyhow, I've attached a link and it offers quite a bit of info for anyone looking to upgrade your factory lighting. I've done 2 of these LED's headlight conversion kit's on my trucks to include the factory driving light assemblies, and they are amazing.

Your Headlights cleaned up pretty nice Jason. I replaced the buckets on the Excursion after a cousin did a clean up on the stock ones. He sanded them down and sprayed a clear coat on them and they didn't turn out to bad, they definitely looked better than they were. Anyhow, as I mentioned, I opted to put new headlights and an LED conversion kit on the Excursion and they turned pretty nice. Boy I have to say, the brand new 17-2020 trucks blind the heck out of guy going down the road. They are extremely bright, and more so the higher end trucks that come out with what I believe are now LED's.
