Thanks, What was this starter for originally? I am guessing IH trucks? I may have to add one to the wish list to keep on hand for when mine goes out.
I'm not sure. But, my advice is put your old starter on the shelf for a 'spare' and run the good starter. After 1/4 million miles, I don't have a 'spare' anymore. Lol.
Is it a 2 or 3 bolt starter? What I have now is a 2 bolt and one of the holes was partially stripped when I got it. Did not realize when I had the trans out or i would have fixed it then. Used a longer bolt to catch some good threads. Need to put in an insert when I have it out again.
Although, if the bolt hole is where the blank is at on the mounting surface of the starter, it could be drilled out and utilized as a 3rd mounting location. Not sure about the orientation of the starter and bolts though, so what I have said could be 100% wrong...
