Do you homework before buying. A mechanical locker isn't for everyone. Definitely adds more traction and less parts to wear out but the handling characteristics are lousy when driving a snow covered road at speed. If you're set on a locker get one. A lunch box style won't fit in a limited slip carrier. That leaves you with replacing the clutches in you current one or pull the carrier. If you pull the carrier scrap the lunch box idea and get new unit whether it's a true locker or a helical style limited slip like a trutrac that has no clutches to wear out. If if want to keep the factory stuff, restack the clutches so it alternates friction and steel rather than how the factory does it. It will grip harder. Some will argue there's less engagement of the steels on the axle that way but I have never heard of it failing.
