Posted this in Drivetrain forum lot of looks no one answered. Anyways got a a 79 F-150 9" open rear and i want a locker for the rear. I was thinking a powertrax. I have 35" tires and will not run anything larger. Its 4x4 but i get stuck in some stuff that if i had a locker i could easily get out of in 2 wheel. I go no where in snow, just sit and spin. I am trying to make it offroad worthy. I drive on the street too.
I want a powertrax locker. The new No slip is $477 stronger and more street friendly than the original lock-rite about $300. Thoughts on this locker or the detroit EZ-locker.
I dont want a limited slip, due to i had new gears set with the open diff. Iam not paying for a new limited slip case and having the gears reset.
long post sorry.
i used a lock-rite in my 76 when i had 35's and 4.56 gears it was just like any other locker in the snow just take it easy you'll find out why. they in my opinion are very strong i broke the carrier after i put in my 514 crate motor. messed up everything in there but for the most part the lock rite was still ok. i then upgraded to a 60 front and 70 rear with air lockers in both
I know they can be a handful in snow. How is the locking and unlocking action when driving. the clunking a popping is supposed to be less with the NO SLIP locker.

there is some clunking but its not to bad. when the temps got cold it is more noticable and sometimes it wouldnt unlock in a turn when the weather was really cold but after 10-15min of driving the oil warmed up and all was ok then , also there will be noticable tire squeel if your giving it gas in a turn .
