sloppy steering
So i purchased a new 2018 F350 DRW 4x4 in June 2018. It had a slight wander when driving. This is my first front solid axle vehicle ive owned. So i thought maybe it was normal. Nope, it got worse and worse till i was on a 1,000mile trip and my arms were worn out after 200miles of “sawing on the wheel”. Wandering was getting really bad.
I took it to ford for alignment. I get the truck back and its worse, plus the steering wheel was not straight now.
I take it to another for dealer and they cant figure out anything either. 11,700 miles on a brand new truck and my tires are worn like they have been on for 35,000 miles(edges worn the f**k out).
so i had the wifey turn the steering wheel back and forth while i held the ball joint that connects to the pitman arm. Sure nuf, sloppy garbage loose ball joint.
Really?! Bad drag link ball joint from the factory. Hard to believe but thats the case.
The ball joint was so sloppy bad that it was almost raising a red flag saying “IM BAD IM BAD” but the dumb “parts changers” seriously havent a clue how to diagnose anything.
Ford warranty is not worth a penny if the “techs” cant figure out what they are doing.
I have lost all faith in ford service departments and im just going to replace the drag link myself.
If you want it done right, gotta do it yourself.
