Rail Measurement
Picking up a new to us 2011 F250 shortly and was looking on line for a deal on custom mounting brackets as the ones on our old truck will not fit it. Was looking on etrailer.com at the Reese RP56016. I was watching the installation video and the guy casually mentioned they were 48" long rails, longer than the universal rails. Well I went out and measured the rails in our '08 F250 and they are only 43" long. I couldn't find any info on this, and assume the frame must be wider in the newer trucks making my rails useless for the new truck unless there is a different bracket which I am not finding. Someone must have run into this before. Any suggestions?

In the video, the guy actually stated that the universal rails would not work with the 56016 mounting brackets. The flanges that the rails bolt to are pointed outward and too far apart, thus the 48" rails. Different brackets would be needed that had the flange pointed inwards so the universal rails could be used. Problem being he didn't give a part number and I'm not finding one anywhere.

I have a 2017 F-250 4x4 long bed and used E-trailer Item # RP50074-58 and it looks like it is the same for a short bed and 2wd. For trucks without factory rail kit!

Thanks, but according to etrailer this is "not comfirmed to fit" my 2011. What I'm finding is '11-'16 take the same brackets.
