Bed Swap

I have a 73 f-250 highboy 4x4 and I am putting a new bed on it and the holes do not line up. I would rather not drill new holes would like to keep it looking the same. I was planing on building brackets attaching them to holes on the side of the frame. This is not a problem on the back four bolt holes, but on the front four there are not bolt holes on the side. I was thinking of a couple of options of how to do this I would definitly appreciate all you guys knowledge. Can I weld vertically mounts on, or can I drill or blow holes in the frame with a torch? If you have any ideas that would be great.

sounds like a good idea, i would drill the holes ...........i thought about using an outside bracket like a "body mount bracket" just under the bed holes, only they wont need to be that big, they would be too far apart then, maybe some angle iron cut into L tabs would work, but you are on the right track with your idea, i think highboy beds came from the factory rusted out and beat up since that is all i have ever seen them look like when searching for a replacement

I ran into the same problem when I put another bed on the Crew Cab, what I did was bolt 2" angle iron between the frame rails and then bolted the bed to the angle iron. Hasn't moved since. Just had to notch the angle iron to clear the side fuel tank and the parking brake cables.
