Im swapping hardware from older door to new door, for all who have experience,do I just grind these off to remove regulator,as of now the only thing holding it in,,,,And what did you use for replacement ? Thank you in advance
Something like that I might just use new pop rivets
IIRC, the rivets big enough for a window regulator require one of those monster, long-handled rivet guns, not the cheap little Pop-Rivet ones you buy at Home Depot. I had to do the same type of swap years ago and the local glass shop only charged me a couple bucks to do it instead of buying the tool.
I changed the regulator in the brown truck a while back. Just drill out the aluminum rivets with a 1/4" bit. The regulator I bought came with rivets, but you need a special rivet tool - they're expensive!
I installed the new regulator with nuts, lock-washers and bolts.
Applied some white lithium grease to the new roller before I buttoned it all back up.
I just pulled all the guts out of my old door, cleaned lock with oven cleaner,,,,thought I would be able to use wing window rubber, but with further inspection rust build up under rubber, shipping my wing window frame out to be blasted and powdered,(protected)one window at a time,,,thanks for all help,,,I guess Ill be using small bolts and nuts for window regulator....I do have one of those tools that puts a threaded insert compressed ,I maybe able to install that on the regulator and install 1/4 x20 bolts ,,,sorta tapped
