my window regulator got stuck tonight, and i broke the crank off trying to roll it up tonight, i meanthe whole thing, the cast assembly and everything, i had to use vise grips to roll it up in the walmart parking lot tonight. i dont know much about these window regulators, but would it be easier to get a whole door from a junkyard, (these trucks are plentiful in yards in my area) or how hard is it to replace the regulator assembly?
the best way is, you fix it with a new or used regulator. It' s easy. Remove the door trim panel. Then disconnect the window wiring harness, if you have power windows. Drill out the three rivets which are holding the regulator. Remove the regulator out of the door and insatall the new one in the reseve or removal. You can mount the new ones with three bolts, you don't have to rivet it, if you don't have the tools for it. If you have any futher question......
Hey Nick Jens is right. It is not a big job and I surely would replace the regulator before replacing the door. My 84 f-150 had a bad regulator and like Jens said about and hour at the most job. Just be carefull and don't drop the window when you disconnect the old regulator and hook in the new. I got some duck tape and ran from one side of the glass over to the other with a little slack in it just to keep the window from falling but I was alone at the time. If you have someone to hold it that would be great. Good Luck!
thank you all, that doesnt sound as hard as i thought, i will have to replace the regulator when i get around to it, still gotta have a front end alingment, tune up, and rear brake shoes, so its on the list
