Weird DEF quantity logic

Thanks for all the answers guys. Obviously sounds like something isn't right, but let's hope it was just a fluke. I'll see what happens next time before I go to the dealer with it, then I will probably have to wait until a third time so I can duplicate it for the dealer. I'm sure it's one of those "no evidence in the scanning of the computer, and everything is testing good" flukes.

So, today is my first time filling DEF. I was at 3/8 of a tank. I am about to do a big trip, and when I did last month, I burned about 3/8 of a tank of DEF so I knew I would have to fill up to make this trip. Bought two 2 gallon jugs, came home, shut the truck off, ate supper amd went back in and dumped a jug in. When I went into the truck to check the gauge it now shows 3/4 full, so that will do for this trip, but the second jug won't fit. I will wait until I get back from the trip. Two observations, I burned 2 gallons on DEf towing approximately 1500 km and lucky I noticed the gauge and was able to add, I would of been smack DAb in the middle of nowhere running on empty. Just FYI round trip, two full tanks of diesel, on way back, 37 Km to empty, averaged 13 mpg, about 21 L/100 Km. I was clocking some pretty good speeds at points where able 70 mph, 110 Kmh. Love the big fuel tank, make the trip without fill ups but I did carry two 5 gallon extra cans in case.
