Your dealer should be able to order the parts and do the install and tell the computer its there. Depending on the model, different modules and remotes would be needed.
How hard is it to add remote start to an XLT or Lariat that does not have it? Can the dealer do it and can I and how much should it cost. Thanks!
yes dealer can add remote start (key fob) to you XLT. I know this because i just had it done on mine. Dealer install is the only way to go because it integrates right into your info screen to set run times. Cant say anything about cost because i made them include with deal on truck at purchase.
I had a remote start added to my XLT via dealer's partner within a few days of picking it up. It will start using the standard key fob (multi clicks on a button) and also came with another fob but I don't use that one. All told, it was a half hour of work but I don't recall the pricing.
I would go after market remote starter with alarm two way personally given you do not have push button start. My two way worked wonders and the range was awesome on the titan alarm system.
I was thinking one that would work like a factory install. obviously I can get it done 3rd party but I would not want to carry around a 2nd FOB Thanks for the replies
I had the dealer add an aftermarket remote start to my xlt when I purchased it. They didn't do it in house they sent it off to another shop to have it done. They originally told me that it would be integrated into the factory key fob. When I came back to pick it up my salesman explained to me that the shop was unable to integrate it so I would have a separate fob. I'm not crazy about the separate fob but at least it's not too bulky.

I would love to know the brand that they installed that intergrated with your standard oem fob. Any markings on that 'other fob'? Anyway to find out what was installed? Thanks
