First diesel truck

I'm looking to buy my first diesel truck. I've seen a few nice ones. What should I look for when purchasing? One guy has 93 f250 idi listed for 4K, but he says it truck needs rear lifted.

When you go to look at it, ask to see it cold. Air intrusion and a defunk glow plug system are two of the most common problems. Both can be easily hidden if someone has driven the vehicle in last couple hours.

Double check the condition of the fuel gauges. These trucks are notorious for having bad fuel sending units. If you test drive it and it has full fuel tanks it's a repair that will be needed.

Need rear lifted? What?

4K for a 25 year old truck, it'd better be pristine. To many people selling these trucks as if it's not late 2017.

I agree.

When I bought my truck I checked the value on the Hagerty website. Hagerty valued a condition #3 86 f250 sclb Lariat 6.9l with 4x4 at $7000. My truck wasn't quite a condition 3, it had a few problems. I was able to get it for less than $7000, but I could have gotten a better price. Oh well, it only has 124k miles on it. It's barely broken in and I love it. I guess that's what counts.
