Meeting dealer tomorrow to place order for new truck. I'm set to order a F350 XLT, 6.2, 4x4, 4.30. Still not sure if I want a CCSB or CCLB, torn between the two. I'm leaning toward the long bed due to tank size. Can anybody provide the DTE range fuel range when full for either the 34 or 48 gallon tank?
Usually get a DTE 390~400 depending on how and where I am driving. If I am only driving in the city I usually get around 350 when all city. I have the 34 gallon tank, and I have never put more then 26 gallons in the tank.
I have the long bed with the 48 gallon tank. With straight 87 octane it says 630-650 DTE. With E85 it says about 550-575 DTE. Don't let the low milage trolls scare you away from using E85, it's good in the high dollar states, but I always switch back to unleaded when I get back home where the prices are lower. I did a road trip from NC to MI, the price in NC was 1.98, and it was 2.48 in MI. I made it from NC to Ohio where the gas was cheaper on one tank. In Michigan where it was the highest, I use E85 which was 1.89 and made it to Pennsylvania where 87 was almost 3.00. I got another tank of E85 for 1.90 a gallon in Pennsylvania and made it home to the cheap gas. I averaged about 14.6 for that trip, the 48 gallon tank alone is worth having the convenience, hauling space, and towing stability of the 8 foot bed.
I'm seeing DTE numbers around 540-550 with the LB and the 4.3's. I do all around town driving with a good bit of towing mixed in. Seeing 12.5 or so around town and 8-ish while towing. Not sure of the DTE calculation is excluding the towing miles or not in its calculation. So far, only 3,000 miles with 650 of that towing.
Love the 4.3's and the 48 gallon tank. Even the short bed wouldn't fit in my garage, so it seemed like an easy choice to go long bed and get the bigger tank. MPG's aren't great, but I only drive 7 miles to work so I can get 2 weeks out of a full tank. Just need to take it easy on the gas pedal - but its hard to resist. I really like the 6.2 with new torqshift G and the 4.3 gears.

We have a 2017 F350 XLT 6.2 4x2 3.73. Our truck still has the OEM 34 gallon tank; I've not yet decided about having it replaced per the TSB. Assuming you order the CCSB, your new truck's 34 gallon tank should be the latest and greatest.
Our local driving ("country errands"?) DTE after a fill-up is ~330 miles. Our highway fuel economy is much better: 518 miles DTE, and 503 miles delivered (with 2 miles DTE) running lightly loaded but with the A/C mostly on.
Early reports suggest the replacement tank could extend DTE- and performance ranges by +5% or more, which could push our truck's highway DTE out to ~550 miles.
We've mostly used 87 AKI E10 fuel (east cost regular) so far. I use gasbuddy.com to help plan trip fill-up locations and to help manage fuel costs.
Your new truck's highway range will likely be affected by the 4x4 drivetrain and the 4.30 gears, and, assuming you ordered them, by the AT tires.

HTH, and best of luck with your decision and placing your order!

I agree with bowler304 as if I remember right mine is somewhere in that range as well with the 34 gallon tank.
Tell me more about this recall, I have not heard of it.
WB,
There's a Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB; not a recall) out that addresses "less than advertised capacity" for early-ish 2017 trucks (diesel or gas) with the 34 gallon tank. Here are some links to discussion and info:
This thread explains a lot... when we did the test drive, the truck had 7 miles to empty reading and when I asked, the salesman said its fine... drove that truck 25 miles on the test drive route.
I was at 37 miles to empty and had traveled 378.5 miles with the average at 12.9 mpg
I was able to put in 29.5 gallons so it seems to be pretty accurate.
Only have about 750 miles on her so far. Been a steady climb in mpg from when i picked her up showing something like 8 mpg! LOL Do not do much highway right now, mostly back roads. When doing some highway it likes 65 mph at just about 2000 rpms. they average goes between 15 and 20 until an incline.....so i figure it will be close to my f150 at around 15 or 16 empty as i get more miles on her. Love the power and smoothness!
