It looks as though the 6.2L gas engine comes with a 34 gallon tank in RC and SC models, but gets a larger 48 gallon tank in the CC models.
However, there's no info as to which bed may or may not coincide with those choices. I can see where a CCLB would have enough room for the 48 gallon tank, but I don't really want a truck that large. I would be happiest with a SCLB, but they don't offer the larger tank in that model configuration. I would be OK with a CCSB, if it does get the larger tank.
Am I misinterpreting this? Will even a CCSB have a 48 gallon tank? Asking the two dealers in my area comes up with different asnwers. (no surprise; sales guys are the last ones who actually know anything about vehicle specs ....)
Have any of you got a 2017 CCSB? Do you know what tank size you have?
I trust someone here, that actually OWNs one, and has filled up the tank, to know better than some CS agent ...
If the 6.2L CCSB comes with the 48 gallon tank, I'd be excited.
But I don't understand why a CCSB gets the large one, but the SCLB does not. The SCLB actually has about 4+ more inches of wheelbase, but it gets the smaller tank? What am I to infer from this? That hauling people takes more fuel than hauling more stuff in a bigger bed?
I suspect it's poor info on the website. I would think that probably ONLY the CCLB combo gets the big tank with a gasser. But I would actually like to be wrong here; I'd like to think we can get the larger tank with the shorter bed.
Again - if anyone actually OWNS a 2017 with 6.2L and CCSB, how much can you actually fill the tank with? Please reply.
OK, I don't OWN one but have been researching hard for 8 or 9 months. You are correct in that ONLY the CCLB come with the 48 gal tanks, gas or diesel. CCSB spec out at 34 gallons, also gas or diesel. I've seen it posted here in official Ford published literature (order guides, etc., not some website snippet) time and again.

We have a 2017 F350 6.2 CCSB (see signature below); it's fitted with a 34 gallon fuel tank. With distance-to-empty reading two miles, I recently pumped 30.685 gallons into the tank after a 503 mile run, suggesting our truck has an ~3.3 gallon "unspecified reserve" (~10%), to quote Ford's techno-speak in the OM.
Ford recently issued a TSB to address customer complaints about indicated usable capacity for the 34 gallon tank. I haven't yet decided if I'll have my tank replaced.
Correct, we weren't towing. It was after a drive up I-81 to I-66 and back in Virginia. Speeds were 65-70, fuel was 87 AKI, the A/C was on (mostly), and the load was light.
Yeah, 16.4 ain't bad, but I think it'll do even better once it's really broken in.
Since the TSB I had done, and now after my 4th consecutive fill up at the same Chevron; I have run right to "0" or just beyond and each time my truck took 30.7-30.9 to fill. I am confident saying that I now have an acceptable 3 gallon reserve. I picked up about 3 usable gallons. I am happy with the Ford fix on this one.
Now all somebody need to do is help the rest of us with older trucks and see how to retro fit the larger gas tank to older super duty trucks, nothing is too hard to do if you need to do it.

If you are talking about the 48 gal tank, that might prove difficult. They have got that thing shoe horned in there pretty tight on my F-350 CCLB gasser. It is form fitted to the available space, and extends far forward under the cab.
It would very hard to determine if it would fit before actually trying to get it into place.
Filled up my truck tonight after the low fuel light went on telling my I had 50 miles to empty. By the time I filled up it said I had 40 miles until empty. I was only able to put 25.5 gallons in and my truck has a 34 gallon tank.
