quick question, what are the safe temperatures for pre and post turbo? I have EGT guage and sensor is mounted post turbo (so easy to do when installing new exhaust)
I might mound pre turbo when i take my tranny out to replace what i think is a bad release bearing.
Post turbo your guess is as good as mine. It could be 50-500* cooler than pre turbo. I suppose maybe if you used 800* as a safe post turbo max. you might be okay......
I have a 2000 F350 7.3 auto, and I run the superchips 90 horse program. I live at 6200 ft and drive up to 10,000 ft pulling a trailer that weighs 3500 lbs. and post temps have never gotten above 900* Also around town with the 110 horse it does not go over 600* post.
to clarify where the map sensor is in relation to where you have to connect the Boost guage "Tee" it's the only black hose crossing the cold side of the intercooler tube right next to the Engine oil filler tube on 99+ to 2003 PSD's on the Passenger (left) side if your standing in front of your Truck.

This is why most think pre turbo is better. You don't have the guessing game about how much heat is being lost in the turbo. Also I have been told on a PS that 1270 or above are cause for concern. Remember that this damage is cumulative. Hitting 1300+ for short periods may be ok a couple of times but it adds up and will eventually do damage. If I wanted my PS to last a long time chipped I would put a pre turbo pyro in and never exceed 1250-1275.
P.S. ALSO HAVE K&N FILTER IN FACTORY BOX, BUT I MODEFIED THE GRILL SO IT GETS FRESH AIR FROM BESIDE THE RADIATOR. aLSO HAVE LUND GRILL COVER- KEEPS THE HAIL AND SMALL BIRDS OFF THE AC/RADIATOR/INTERCOOLER. MUCHO- EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE.
