'95 F-350 4 Door, A/T and the the steering locked up trying to back in a space.
I swapped my '96 with a ZF5 a couple years ago but I believe I read where a steering column out of a Crown Vic will work for A/T trucks.. Not having luck finding the swap thread.
Is this correct? Is there something I need to plan for? Such as the towing shift selector? I'm thinking a car steering column will be better than a truck because people will not have been pulling their selves up with the wheel.
Some of the parts transferred, I highly doubt the entire unit unit did.... it may be luck but a tight colum out of a bronco f150-350 is commonly found for 60-100 bucks on CL in Denver.
Almost everything I have learned about our shift columns came from fullsizebronco.com. I believe that is where Steve83 talks about the guts of the column from a crown vic working in the 92-96 Bronco. It has been a while since I have been there.
the crown vic column will bolt rite in, the only difference is some of the electrical plugs will need to be changed depending on the year it came out of, same as with the trucks.
no idea what a tow button is. do you mean the overdrive cutoff switch?
if it does not plug rite together, it will only be a matter of changing the plugs on the wires just like you would have to do with other year truck columns, and swapping the steering wheel if you want the truck wheel instead of the car wheel.
I learned some things too. Been busy working on a Case IH round baler so been away from FTE. Thanks guys, I will be heading to the spare parts yard. Last time there they sold me a working 110V IDM for $20.00 bucks and the ticket said "sensor". You have to make friends at the right time and place. Always keep a spare, right?
