instrument voltage regulator
any one know where i can find one mine is getting pretty old and unreliable and i cannot find one in the wrecking yards? are the electronic versions any better? where can i buy or make one of those.

ICVR - Instrument Cluster Voltage Regulator.
1961/66 different than 1967/69. 1967/69 different than 1970. 1970 different than 1971/72.

Did you try searching NPD, LMC, Dennis Carpenter, Mac's or any of the places that carry parts for our trucks? Can't say for certain as to the quality, but I know C&G Ford Parts, Mac's, Dennis Carpenter, LMC all have a listing for them.

Keep in mind they are a mechanical type regulator so the output is choppy. A modern digital multimeter will just display gibberish trying to measure the voltage so sometimes people replace them unneccessarily.

They are not cheap that is for sure. Good luck on your building venture. Keep us posted on the results!

You can build one for about $3 or $4. I've made several for different people. Remember to disconnect the positive battery wire before doing ANY welding, or you'll burn up the electronic version IVR.
