In dash regulator

Hi all I am actually working on my 67 Mustang and I am in the process of rewiring the gauge cluster and I am wanting to know how many amps flow through the regulator. I am planning on building a solid state regulator, and I am thinking probably 1 or 2 amps.

The fuse on the circuit gives the outside limit. But why are you doing what you are doing? The old CVR's regulate the circuit, are cheap, and last for decades. Stay with what you have.
You will probably not get much from these guys about your problem, because to paraphrase a reply to one of my posts, "We are not aware of a 67 Ford truck named Mustang."

Well the reason I ask is because I am wanting to get this all done and the regulator I have looks as if it has seen better days because it has a slight burn or hot spot on it. So, I figure since I have it apart I will replace that regulator, but one small problem look at the price of the regualtor I can build one that will be more reliable for around $1.50 +/- a few cents. And these regulators were in service in virtually all Ford vehicles until the very early 90s they just had different connections. Plus if I can get it right I will probably sell other on to help pay for my education. So you could use them in your Ford aswell because I will probably replace the ones in my Mustang and 77 F-250.

When was the last time you bought one of these?

The last MSRP for this particular ICVR was $117.89!! Dealer net cost was $53.20.

Besides this ICVR, there are seven others. The cheapest has an MSRP of $78.56.
