I'm pretty sure my IVR is shot so I've been checking around and the only place that has one is the dealer for $31. Can I get one of these at a national chain like Autozone? If so, what do I call it because when I asked for an "Instrument Voltage Regulator" all I got was dumbfounded silence, followed by a recommendation for an alternator, voltage regulator. Please Help!
Thanks in advance
As far as I know you are calling it by the right name, I know of no other, try Carquest, NAPA, & the others you mentioned, these are sold aftermarket., I bought one years ago & I got it at my local NAPA store, That dumb look thing is quite frustrating.
I just called the local parts store and this is what I found out;81-86 F Series = VRC606,81-91 E Series = VRC606.Part # is for Standard Motor Products {Blue Streak} and price is: List = $36.80 and Jobber = $16.88. I wondered why the trucks stopped at 86, but I'll have to check further into it.

I had instrument problems with my 1995 Lightning and was surprised to find when I purchased a full set of Helm manuals that the instrument panel no longer used a VR. New to Ford trucks, but suspect they were taken out the year the parts places stop having a replacement part.
