ignition timing: is that it?
fired up the freshly-built motor ('95 5.8) and it sounds good!
haynes manual sez to pull the spout short-bar and set timing to 10 BTDC, then re-connect short-bar and the PCM will do the rest.
so, is that really all there is to it?
once the truck is put together and actually on the road, does the PCM learn/adjust, or is that just for aftermarket EFI systems?

Needs about 10-20 miles. Some steady state highway & some city.
When you get it all sorted out, go back & bump it to 12* & if no detonation, you've got few more HP if you want it.
