"Venerable!"

l believe the time has come to add the adjective "venerable" to the 6.2. Seven
years of exceptional reliability and low
maintenance equals or surpasses the
7.3. What does everyone else think?

Mine broke a valve spring at 42K, so I'm not going to pass judgment yet. It's at 66K now.

The 6.2 has @100 more hp, but @100 less ft lbs of tq than the last 7.3. Obviously the 7.3's power is at a much lower rpm. Give even an early 7.3 powerstroke one of the 6.2 transmissions and the 7.3 would have been a much better performer. I think the 6.2 has the 7.3 in reliability, the internals of a properly maintained 7.3 have the 6.2 though. It's apples to oranges.

I do think the 6.2 has earned the title though.

how does MPG of a loaded 6.2 handle to a loaded 7.3?

I absolutely loved my PSD. It was amazing. But there were many times that the turbo made driving it just suck. especially low boost times. Those situations are exactly why I love my V-10's. The 6.2 with her better trans options just re-enforces that opinion.

be it a 5.4, 6.8, or the 6.2...I think we can all agree that all of the gassers have amazing longevity. it is the norm up here in the Northeast to see 200k+ rigs still on the road. Which is right on par with a PSD

I think the true metric however should be gas mileage. which one yanks heavy stuff around and saves you the most money doing it
