Got my 2015 F250 back today . They fixed a broken valve spring and put it back together. It’s running like new and the mechanic said he didn’t see any other damage. Should I be worried going forward with 137,000 Miles already on it? What is the likelihood of another broken valve spring? Should I just trade it in and not take a chance on it?
While broken valve springs and clogged cats are the most common issues with the 6.2, if you break a second valve spring, you better start buying lotto tickets. It's still not real common. Usually the valve either wadded up against the piston or causes no damage at all. I wouldn't be to worried about it.
I wouldn't worry about it. Mine is fine and I've beat on it pretty hard in the last 2000 miles since I had it fixed. I lost a spring at just over 11K. I figure I'm good for the life of the truck now.
Honestly just drive it, they either go or they blow up. We have plenty of 6.2 fleet trucks in various conditions of hammered. The run good and hard until 200k or so. For a fleet truck its impressive to say the least to see 200k on a original engine.
I was hopping the first cable spring was just a fluke deal at 113,xxx miles it also bent the valve but no other damage. The first one was on the intake on #4 cylinder. I came home today and was a block away from home and it broke the intake valve spring on #6 cylinder no valve damage at this time truck only has 118,xxx miles. Should I just bight the bullet and change them all find a aftermarket set?
