Need Some opinions here PO279 Error Code

Ok Guys I am looking for some advice, everyone on here knows more than I do, so please tell me. Heres the deal I have an error code on my Scan Gauge II of PO279 (#7 Injector Circuit Low) I had around a quater tank or less of fuel when i was drivin in town and heard a popping sound( not loud but audible) and the motor began missing. I ran a scan and found the error message of PO279. I did some research not a lot, but decided to try Hot Shot Secrets Stiction Eliminator in the oil change as it within ten miles of needing it anyway. I change my oil every 5K, I now have a little over 1800 miles on this oil and have not had any change. The manufacturer says they will guarantee results within 5K. My questions are :
1. ) DO I just keep on running this oil to see if HSS Stiction eliminator will do its job? I really hate the fact that at around 1600-1900 RPM I have a vibration in the motor/truck
2.) DO I go ahead and bite the bullet as it may be an electrical rather than mechanical problem with the injector?
3.) If I do change the injector should I just go ahead and and change out all the injectors on the left bank (passenger side)? And if I do this would I be able to keep the injectors that are working and have them for the other side when and if they go out? My truck has a 154K on it right now.
4.) Would it be really stupid on my part to only change the one bad injector?

Thanks in advance for all the advice I know its all good

You have an injector electrical code, not a contribution code. I doubt your problem is stiction.

The issue could be the FICM, the harness, or the injector. Check FICM voltages first.

Thanks so much Mark, I replaced my FICM a few years back, I will have to refesh myself on testing procedure but , I do know KOEO FMP-48.5 FLP-11.0 I will do more research to see how to check at Injector plug. I have noticed whrn I cold start the motor that it seems to crank longer than usual, even with summer temps of 90+ but after intial start of the day it fire off much quicker. Is it possible this could be an indication of a FICM problem?

It could be a FICM issue. What FICM did you install two years ago?

It could also be an injector or harness issue.

As to the question about replacing one injector, I don't think it is a bad strategy with 154k miles, but that decision would be based on how well the fuel system was cared for (ie has the fuel pressure been maintained properly, filter maintenance good, etc). I would expect them to last longer.

QUOT

I bought the FICM several years ago (not exactly sure would have to look) from FICM Repair and I'm pretty sure I bought his replacement deal.
I have been faithfully changing oil and filter every 5K and both fuel filters every 10K as well as running either Lucas on the fuel about every other tank or a girl additive to boost cetane level. I also rigged the fast idle to my outfitter switch.

Ed's work is high quality. he has a very good track record for reliable repairs/upgrades. More than likely the FICM isn't the issue. I would look more to the injector or wiring. That said, you can always give FICMrepair.com a call and talk it over with them. They are good folks!

Do you have ForScan or other means to do an injector buzz test. When performing a buzz test it starts with buzzing them all. Then it will buzz each injector in number cyl. order 1, 2, 3,........
If you have a bad circuit it will not clatter the injector and instead will be a pause before it buzzes the next.

You can pickup an Elm327 WiFi obdII adapter on Amazon to connect with a laptop. They also have adapters that go to USB port on a laptop if you like cords.

OK well I did not do a buzz test was trying to chase down the ELM but I did do a resistance check on the #7 injector. Could not get any resistance at all pretty sure I was making contact but going to try it one more time with help this time and see what the outcome is.

NOW I am looking for advice as to what I need to replace other than the obvious Bad Injector, I'm going to tackle this puppy myself as I have a new found confidence thanks solely to this forum and all the great people that contribute to it. That being said I am looking at replaceing only the bad injector and whatever I am advised to change..///P.S. Ahhhemmm, If anyone living near Rudy,AR. or Fort Smith wants to supervise it would NOT hurt my feelings. Thanks for ALL
