Injection Control Pressure Sensor

On my signature truck, just recently while highway driving at 75 mph,
it all of a sudden lurched and bucked liking it was not getting fuel.
Pulled over at next exit and let it idle for awhile, then decided to see if it was still doing it. It ran fine after that and then yesterday it did it just a couple of misses but nothing like last time.
I am thinking it may be the ICP sensor. truck has almost 280,000 miles on it.
Where is this sensor located? Ford dealer wants $90.00 just to hook it to computer, so I may just buy this and replace it myself and hope this was it.

Thanks for any help,

That sensor sits on top of the driver's side head up front adjacent to the fuel bowl. It can be disconnected and will run on a default reading to help you determine if it's the problem. It sort of sounds like a fuel problem to me like plugged in tank pick up, has the fuel tank had hutch mod performed?

Like Walleye said drivers side head at the front. Only buy the motorcraft OEM for this sensor - early failure rate on others is huge. Check your codes - my F350 does it occasionally and throws a TPS code but its more of a decel than a lurch. Without codes or gauge info it'll be hard to pinpoint without throwing cash at parts

Just disconnect the plug(careful, do not drop the little gasket seal). Look to see if it is leaking oil. It will cause SES light to come on and also set a code.

Symbol in lower left part of dash came on...never seen it before. Looked it up in owners manual and it said "emissions service required".

Didn't know if that is related to the ICP sensor or not.

Could be CPS as mentioned, or fuel problems starting, or UVCH. Best to get the codes and go from there as it could be a dozen other things. Not all code readers will talk to these trucks so if your friend says he can't find any codes you'll need a different reader. Parts can get expensive so no need to throw them at it with out knowing.

AllaboutMPG,

Had new CPS when Ford did the recall. Thank you for the engine bay pic...very helpful.
I am going to take her a diesel mechanic next week. Just didn't want to use dealership.

This same problem happened to me the previous owner Putnam in a non oem icp due to the lacknof insulating copper the truck would go crazy code to radio towers and some cell towers.
Upon replacement of the icp the truck was fully operational in these once haunted roads.

Check to see on the sensor if there is a ford of international logo stamped into the metal to start further investigate.
