Fuel evaporation sensor?

Fuel evaporation sensor?
I have a 1997 f150, I broke the fuel evaporation sensor on top of the fuel tank. I think that's what it is called? While I was removing the tank. Is that sensor critical for performance or anything? I guess do I have to replace it? or is that a bad idea not too? Thanks!!

the sensor you are talking about is the fuel tank pressure sensor.i dont think it will effect performance but it will cause a check eng light to come on on will effect your evaperative emmisions system.
