Haha, hey everyone. If you guys don't remember, my name is Drew and my username used to be MN47Ford a few years ago. Wanted to start off by saying I'm sorry I just disappeared after that little meetup we had in St. Louis Park. I don't want y'all, especially the guy who balanced the front tires on my '96 F150 properly (I'm sorry. I forgot a lot of names.), which, again, I probably thanked you already for that but thank you once again, it made a world of difference in the ride home going down 169. The front driver's side didn't feel like it was hopping excitedly up and down continuously.
But yeah, shortly after that meet up, a LOT of things went South for me, personally. Started going through a lot of struggles and just need to disconnect for a while and now, I feel like I am getting both my feet planted solidly on the ground again after so much time has passed.
Additionally, that 1947 Ford 1.5 ton dually truck that I had told you guys about when I first joined up is still around and I will hopefully have it up and running and transferred completely into my name within the next few months. I just need to find a place that either makes gas tanks for them or that sells gas tanks for it because the last time we tried starting up, sediment had gathered up in the lines from so many years of being fed by gas barrel on my grandpa and grandma's farm that it just needs a new tank. Plus being 75 or so years old, it's probably seen better days. So if anyone knows where to possibly find a gas tank for my '47 Ford, as well as 6 tires that will fit on steel wheels that are on the truck, I would more than appreciate a heads up for that. Hope to talk to all you guys again soon!
Here's a pic of the '47 Ford in case you guys don't remember what it looked like.
Welcome back! Glad to hear you are getting things back on track.
Is the gas tank rusted through or just got a lot of crud in it? I would just clean and restore the one you got. If the truck is in as good as shape as that picture shows you might be surprised how good of shape the tank is in. Clean it and replace some fuel lines and away you go!
Hey guys, thanks for the welcome backs. Sorry I took forever to reply to you all. Things have been hectic. Beings I couldn't find a replacement tank at first, I decided to do a little research to find a shop that repaired gas tanks and basically refurbishes them and ended up finding a guy that is in Shakopee who did a really good job of sandblasting the whole tank, doing their special process in order to burn out all of the gas fumes to be able to safely weld it and all that and welded a few patches in some spots that he found weak and covered it in a thick coat of primer as well as some sort of rhino-lining that makes it look like brand new. Overall I'm really happy with the outcome. You can shine a flashlight inside of the tank and it's all bright, shiny and clean metal inside and everything. Next step will be to find tires for it as the rear duals have chunks missing of the outer wall and parts on the tread.

Body wise the truck is in surprising good shape for being a Minnesota truck its entire life. The engine and transmissions leak pretty badly though so that's going to be the next thing that will be addressed once I get more free time to drive down to where it's being stored and work on it.
