Old bed rusted up from salt and the fact it was drove on a strip mine before my girlfriend's dad gave me it, but the question is I just built a flat bed for my machine and I'm having wiring issues. I bought a trailer light kit to use instead of the stock lights, but cant figure out how to tie it in with the stock wiring. I have issues understanding wiring diagrams too, but any help would be appreciated. I would just plug the trailer kit into the trailer plug, but the kit is a 3 pin and the truck has a Hopkins 7 pin.

on the truck frame, drivers side by the spare tire, there is a plug with several wires in it.. Half go to the TRUCK TAIL LIGHTS and half go to the TRAILER TAIL LIGHTS.. Your truck has two different fuses to separate the TRAILER from the TRUCK. Not the best idea to mix these two .................. If you insist on using the trailer kit, you can get an adaptor to go from 7 pin to 4 pin plug........ Your 3 pin should have a 4th white wire that is the GROUND for the other 3. The white wire needs to be connected to a clean spot on the frame by the bumper........ You could also cut off the 7 pin plug and eliminate the adaptor, but would have to splice wires.

Just found an adapter on Autozone going to buy it tomorrow. Fingers crossed it'll work.

Adapter did not work. Just cut out holes in the trailer lights I mounted on the bed and stuck the factory lights in them works perfectly fine.
